Modernise complex ERP on a managed private cloud

MTC helps Singapore and regional organisations implement SAP Cloud ERP Private through the RISE with SAP journey—from target design and clean-core decisions to migration, integration, testing, cut-over and ongoing application support.

SAP Cloud ERP Private with RISE with SAP

SAP Cloud ERP Private provides the ERP environment, while RISE with SAP is the guided transformation journey. RISE with SAP Methodology provides SAP Activate road maps, clean-core planning, quality gates and supporting tools. MTC applies this framework to the customer’s migration, integration and operating requirements.

Private Edition provides the design depth to protect valuable business differentiation while MTC reduces unnecessary custom code, duplicated interfaces and unsupported process variants through clean-core decisions.

Business modules and enterprise process scope

Private Edition can support a broad enterprise core. MTC maps these business areas to the required processes, surrounding systems and transformation priorities before architecture and effort are proposed.

Finance, controlling and treasury (FI/CO)

Support general ledger, payables, receivables, asset accounting, management accounting, cash and treasury, close, consolidation and group reporting requirements.

Sourcing and procurement (MM)

Manage requirements, sourcing, contracts, purchase orders, receipts, supplier invoices and supplier collaboration across operating units.

Sales and service (SD)

Run quotations, orders, pricing, availability, credit, delivery, billing, returns and service processes, including complex commercial and intercompany requirements.

Planning, logistics and warehousing

Coordinate demand, supply, inventory, logistics and warehouse operations, with specialist or advanced capabilities assessed as part of the target architecture.

Manufacturing and quality (PP/QM)

Support discrete, process or mixed-mode operations, production planning and execution, quality controls and plant integration where required by the business.

Asset and maintenance management (EAM/PM)

Manage technical assets, preventive and corrective maintenance, work orders, resources, costs and relevant operational history.

Projects, engineering and industry processes (PS)

Control complex projects, product or engineering processes and industry-specific operations within the target enterprise design.

Classic labels such as FI/CO, MM, SD, PP/QM, EAM/PM and PS help teams map the current landscape to the target architecture and implementation scope.

Platform, data and extension layer

MTC combines these capabilities with the ERP modules and surrounding landscape to design a clean core, supported extensions, analytics and integration.

Data, analytics and SAP Business AI

Use enterprise data for operational insight and applicable AI capabilities with clear rules for access, data quality and human accountability.

SAP BTP, integration and clean-core extension

Connect SAP and non-SAP systems, place suitable extensions on SAP BTP and use clean-core principles to keep future change manageable.

Where Private Edition fits

Private Edition fits when the present landscape, target processes, migration, integrations and control requirements call for an enterprise-scale transformation.

Suitable conditions

  • An existing ECC or S/4HANA landscape requires an assessment of system conversion, selective data transition and new-implementation options.
  • Group finance, manufacturing, logistics, asset, project or regulated processes require verified depth beyond the standardised Public Edition scope.
  • Material custom objects, integrations, data history or downtime constraints have a documented business reason to influence the transition path.
  • Headquarters, regional and country owners can manage clean-core decisions, cross-country rollout, testing, cut-over and an agreed upgrade window.

When Public Edition or Business One may be more appropriate

  • A greenfield programme can adopt standard cloud processes with limited extensions; Public Edition may meet the requirements with a simpler implementation.
  • The Singapore entity is relatively independent and operationally straightforward; SAP Business One or the current system may be proportionate.
  • Where process, data, integration, migration and control requirements remain comparatively straightforward, a lighter product path may serve the business better.
  • Where transformation ownership and data readiness need work, MTC can establish the programme foundation before the implementation route is selected.

Transition options from the current landscape

MTC uses the current system, target processes, data requirements and programme risk to select a new implementation, system conversion or selective data transition.

New implementation

Design new business processes and migrate only the required master, open and historical data. Suitable when the current design should not be carried forward.

System conversion

Convert an existing SAP system where the retained configuration and process model remain appropriate. Readiness, custom code, data and downtime must be assessed first.

Selective transition

Retain selected organisational structures, data or processes while redesigning others. This requires explicit selection rules, reconciliation and auditability.

Migration, testing and cut-over

MTC coordinates solution design, data, integration, testing and operational readiness through cut-over and stabilisation.

Business case and target architecture

Define outcomes, scope, deployment principles, group and country requirements, target architecture and the decisions that justify Private Edition.

Process and clean-core assessment

Classify current processes and custom objects: retain, retire, replace with standard, rebuild as an extension or move to another system.

Data and integration preparation

Profile data quality, confirm migration and retention rules, design interfaces and prepare reconciliation controls before build and cut-over.

Build, test and operational readiness

Configure and extend the target, run end-to-end and non-functional tests, rehearse cut-over and establish security, support and continuity procedures.

Deployment and stabilisation

Execute the approved transition, monitor business-critical processes, close priority defects and transfer the application-management responsibilities.

Global template and country rollouts

MTC defines the group core, regional services, country localisation and rollout waves, then coordinates process, data, integrations, migration, testing and support across locations.

Country versions and statutory scope

SAP provides local versions for multiple markets. MTC validates tax, statutory reporting, e-invoicing, payments, currencies and languages by country against the current product release and selected solution scope.

Global core, regional layer and local delta

The target architecture separates group processes and data from regional services, approved country differences and specialist systems, with named owners for every layer.

Deployment and data decisions

MTC brings the selected hyperscaler or deployment location, service model, data residency, connectivity, security and recovery requirements into the target architecture.

Multi-country transition and two-tier ERP

Rollout waves coordinate migration, interfaces, cut-over and support. Subsidiaries may use Public Edition or SAP Business One where that produces a cleaner group architecture.

For Singapore, MTC covers legal entities, chart of accounts and controlling, intercompany, master data, group reporting, statutory processes and interfaces. MTC delivers Singapore GST and e-invoicing through SAP country content, SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, and the appropriate InvoiceNow connection or Access Point.

SAP Cloud ERP Private FAQ

What is the relationship between RISE with SAP and SAP Cloud ERP Private?

SAP Cloud ERP Private, also documented as SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, is the ERP product. RISE with SAP is SAP’s guided transformation journey. RISE with SAP Methodology provides the official end-to-end framework within that journey, combining enhanced SAP Activate road maps, a clean-core success plan, quality gates and supporting tools.

Do we need to run SAP ECC before choosing Private Edition?

Private Edition can be evaluated from ECC, an existing S/4HANA system or another ERP landscape. MTC bases the recommendation on process depth, migration requirements, integrations and the target control model.

Does Private Edition mean we should keep all current customisation?

MTC assesses each custom object and process against business value, risk and available standard capability. The programme retains useful differentiation, retires avoidable technical debt and moves suitable extensions away from the core.

Which business modules are available in Private Edition?

Private Edition can cover finance and controlling, sourcing and procurement, sales and service, planning and logistics, manufacturing and quality, asset maintenance, projects and wider industry processes. MTC maps the target process list to the selected edition, release, country content and related SAP applications in the solution proposal.

How do we choose between a new implementation and conversion?

The decision considers target-process change, current system quality, custom code, data history, downtime tolerance, regulatory evidence and programme risk. A discovery and readiness assessment should precede the recommendation.

How can Private Edition support a Singapore entity and overseas headquarters?

It can serve as a group core or as part of a broader group landscape. MTC defines the group template, Singapore statutory and operating scope, intercompany design, master-data ownership, consolidation and interfaces. Some subsidiaries may use Public Edition or Business One in a two-tier model.

What determines the cost?

MTC prepares an SGD proposal from the selected product and service scope, infrastructure, implementation and migration effort, data, integrations, extensions, testing, change management and ongoing support. This produces a project-specific investment view instead of a generic starting price.
