FAQ by decision area

ERP Selection

How do we choose among SAP Business One, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and SAP Cloud ERP Private?

Assess the target operating model, process depth, standardisation, group architecture, migration, integrations and internal readiness. SAP Business One fits a growing company or subsidiary with manageable complexity; Public Edition fits organisations adopting standard cloud processes; SAP Cloud ERP Private fits a complex group core, an existing SAP transition or a deeply integrated landscape.

Can we start with Business One and move to S/4HANA later?

A future transition can be planned, but it is not an in-place product upgrade. The group reassesses the target operating model, selects the appropriate S/4HANA edition, and plans data, interfaces, history, cut-over and organisational change as a migration or new implementation.

Learn more: ERP Selection Guide →
When should we keep the current system for now?

If the business value, process ownership, data readiness, investment case or key decisions are not yet strong enough to support replacement, the organisation can first complete data, process and programme-readiness work. Keeping the current system is a valid option while those foundations improve.

Learn more: ERP Selection Guide →
What information should we prepare before an ERP selection?

Clarify the entity and country scope, priority processes, current systems, group reporting and interfaces, history that must be retained, internal owners and the intended change timetable. MTC uses these inputs to compare product fit and programme conditions.

SAP Business One

When should a business move from Xero, MYOB or spreadsheets to SAP Business One?

A formal assessment becomes useful when finance and operations use different data, month-end close relies on repeated manual reconciliation, stock status is unclear, or the business needs multi-entity and multi-currency control. The trigger is operating complexity and management need, not a fixed revenue threshold.

Learn more: SAP Business One →
Which core business areas does SAP Business One cover?

It connects finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, production, projects and reporting in the Business One environment. MTC then designs data migration, interfaces such as banking or 3PL, reporting and ongoing support around the Singapore operation and group landscape.

Learn more: SAP Business One →
How broad is the SAP Business One global footprint?

SAP reports 83,000+ customers in 170+ countries, 28 supported languages and 50 country-specific localisations. A project still confirms the current SAP country scope, operating requirements and head-office interfaces for the entities involved.

Learn more: SAP Business One →
What determines SAP Business One cost in Singapore?

Cost normally includes software licences, implementation, data migration and integration, hosting or infrastructure, and ongoing support. The scope is shaped by users and edition, processes, extensions, data, interfaces and deployment. MTC prepares a scope-based Singapore-dollar proposal after confirming the requirements.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Does fit-to-standard mean that no business differences are allowed?

The project walks the real operation through SAP-delivered processes and identifies differences justified by regulation, group control or clear competitive value. A confirmed difference can be handled through configuration, clean-core extension, integration, a specialist system or process change.

How do SAP GROW and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition relate?

SAP GROW is SAP’s cloud ERP platform and entry point for growing companies. SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is the core ERP application; SAP GROW can also bring together SAP SuccessFactors HCM, Joule, preconfigured processes and packaged services. MTC selects the applications around the business objectives and integrates them into the implementation and support proposal.

Which business modules can Public Edition support?

The main scope includes finance and controlling, procurement, sales, supply chain, manufacturing, asset maintenance, and project or service processes. MTC uses the business-process list to bring the current product capabilities, country content, required integrations and acceptance criteria into the delivery proposal.

Can Public Edition support a Singapore regional headquarters?

It can be a strong option where the regional organisation wants a common template and its entities can adopt standard cloud processes. The design also confirms group reporting, intercompany, country requirements, data ownership and interfaces.

SAP Cloud ERP Private

What is the relationship between RISE with SAP and SAP Cloud ERP Private?

SAP Cloud ERP Private, also documented as SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, is the ERP product. RISE with SAP is SAP’s guided transformation journey. RISE with SAP Methodology is the official end-to-end framework within that journey rather than the ERP product itself.

Which organisations are a stronger fit for SAP Cloud ERP Private?

Typical conditions include an existing ECC or S/4HANA transition, deeper group-finance, manufacturing, logistics, asset, project or regulated processes, and critical integrations, history or migration windows that need a more tailored design. The choice should be supported by operating complexity and the target architecture.

Learn more: SAP Cloud ERP Private →
Which business modules can Private Edition support?

The main scope can include finance and controlling, procurement, sales and service, planning and logistics, manufacturing and quality, asset maintenance, projects and wider industry processes. MTC brings the required process depth, country content, related SAP products and systems integration into the target architecture.

Learn more: SAP Cloud ERP Private →
How do we choose between a new implementation, system conversion and selective transition?

The decision considers target-process change, current-system quality, custom code, data history, downtime tolerance, regulatory evidence and programme risk. MTC uses discovery and readiness work to form the migration recommendation and delivery road map.

Industry Solutions

Does the industry name determine which SAP ERP we should select?

Industry is an important input, but it does not determine the product on its own. MTC also examines entity and group complexity, process depth, standardisation, the current landscape, integrations, controls and the support model before comparing Business One, Public Edition and Private Edition.

Learn more: Industry Solutions →
Which ERP capabilities should a Singapore wholesale distributor assess?

Priorities include purchasing and imports, landed cost, stock status, 3PL coordination, customer orders, credit, allocation and order margin. Business One can fit manageable complexity; S/4HANA should also be compared when the group template, supply-chain network or control model is more complex.

Learn more: Wholesale Distribution →
What should a Singapore manufacturer assess when selecting ERP?

Review bills of material, MRP, production execution, material and quality records, actual cost, multi-plant needs, MES or QMS integration and group architecture. Business One can fit light or midsize manufacturing, Public Edition a standard cloud-manufacturing model, and Private Edition more complex multi-plant and deeply integrated operations.
